Lectures
[INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP II]
In the third week of the Digital Imaging and Photography class, Mr. Fauzi guided the class along with our lecture in Photoshop. Before we started, he mentioned last week's practical and gave a few acknowledgments to the class and a few feedbacks to some of the students. After all is said and done, we started to go through the lecture slides along with brief explanations and demonstrations from Mr. Fauzi.

This week's lecture in photoshop is all about using the lasso and the pen tool, these two tools are able to help the designer in the program manipulate a specific object in a whole image to be extracted from it, creating two different grounds, either the foreground or the background. The next main subtopic that we learned about is 'layering' layering is also important when working on a piece in the photoshop program, it correlates to the 'foreground' and 'background'.

In conclusion, the lasso tool is to be able to assist the user in making subtle shapes and extractions from an odd shape object, pen tools help users trace and shaping a precise object and layering helps to not destruct the whole piece when there are many elements in one art piece.

Week 3 Lecture slides (Introduction to photoshop II)

During the tutorial on the other hand, regarding the lecture slides, Mr. Fauzi provided us with a few tricks and guidance in the photoshop program. He showed us examples of how to carry out the extractions of images with both the lasso and the pen tool.

Practical Session
-
Cutting back to exercise 1, carrying out a physical collage. This week, Mr. Fauzi assigned the class to work on 3 different digitalized collages to be submitted at the end of the third week (this week). With all the information that was provided to us by Mr. Fauzi, the only thing left to do is to work on it.

1. Composition #1

2. Composition #2

3. Composition #3

Excercise 1 - Project 1B (Collage Design)

After completing the collage design exercise physically, Mr. Fauzi assigned us to composite digital collage designs in Adobe Photoshop! To also be turned in by the end of week 3 (April 16th, 2021).

After submitting the few ideas I had, I received feedback from Mr. Fauzi suggesting a further refinement of the second composition and so with a few amendments, here is the
Final Outcome:

It may not look like a lot has changed, though I added in a few more elements to make it appear more fuller, though overall I feel satisfied with the outcome it has. The narrative behind it could interpret a kind of dimensioned society that's is heavily incorporated based, with beta fishes as work transportations. Since the whole idea of having a heavily influenced world that's based off with offices and staying in a building half of the day, the beta fishes with its colors create a way to not make the society dull and boring all the time.

During this week's classes and the uses of programs in DPI, I was able to reflect on the understanding of digital composition. It was very interesting to be able to work digitally over the previous exercise that I worked on manually. It has its similarities, except it's in my opinion much more advanced, it has many more options when it comes to editing and arranging and it's much faster.

I was able to familiarise myself with Adobe Photoshop, at first it was hard and confusing but as I got further and further in arranging the elements it got easier. Although I wouldn't say I'm an expert yet! But indulging into the first project to DPI these exercises provide a good way to work our way through in improving and creating appealing works during project 1.
