Lectures
[Project 2B- Poster Design Execution]
In this week's class, Mr. Fauzi recapped the previous exercise we had in week 5 and reassured information on when it should be submitted. After that, he guided the class with a few slides regarding the second project, creating our own posters with a theme about 'Public Service Announcements'.

It was a quick brief that Mr. Fauzi gave on things to do to start out the second project.

Poster Design Execution slides:

- At the same time, Mr. Fauzi provided a template to start out our project 2 step by step in the of 3 weeks (Week 6 -Week 8) and the final outcome to be submitted on the 9th week. An easier way to keep track of our works and researches.

Practical

[Turn B&W image into COLOR!]
-
During practicals, on the other hand, Mr. Fauzi assigned us with an exercise where we use a sample image in black and white as a practice to add color into through Adobe Photoshop.

The image he provided is the one shown below:

Figure 1.1.1 - Sample B&W image of a man

From the image, the steps shown in the slides provided by Mr. Fauzi are what we're meant to do.

Final Outcome (my attempt):

Project 2B

-
For this week, we also started on project 2, although Mr. Fauzi dissected the project into three parts through week 6 all the way to week 8 and to submit the whole completed work on Week 9.

Project 2 is based around designing posters with a theme that was given titled 'Refugees in Malaysia'.

For week 6, the first thing I had to do was to do a few visual research on posters as a reference and to accumulate information and do research on the theme that was given.

MOOD BOARD (3 Poster reference)

Poster reference #1:

The reason why I find fascination in this first poster reference is the way it's being portrayed, I like the simple idea of how human hands can form a particular animal if it was shaped correctly to in a certain way.

I also fancied the way the colors were used in this poster and the moody lighting that was directed onto the hand, it creates a very dramatic atmosphere the way the color and lightning fits in together with each other. To me, it's definitely a reference I wish to achieve when ideating my ideas for my poster designs.

Poster reference #2:

The second poster reference that I stumbled upon was the visual graphic that drew me in, it has representation from the images in relation and the sentence that helped my visual and idea that I could maybe attempt, the same concept of an image tearing into another image in the background, it's a good way to add graphic editing to the posters.

Poster reference #3:

The third poster reference has a little similarity to my second poster reference, it's just a little more simplified in my opinion. I just like the concept of it being in an x-rayed and portraying that all humans are the same, no matter the skin tone or race, or religion we're in looking into who we are, we're all the same in a sense of this poster, we all are skeletons.

-And I feel like the theme that is provided (refugees in Malaysia) could have a similar message and idea that could be portrayed here in this poster that I can apply and do further amendments to my designed poster.

Reflection:

Since Project 2 is currently in commence, this practice makes a good way to implement the (DIY) effect on the posters (project 2). It's also a good way to work our ways in learning about colors and how it gets affected when the blending option is applied to it.

Overall, it was a fun little fast exercise to carry out and to do different kinds of filters towards it.

Other than that, Mr. Fauzi also directed us in working on the first part of our project 2, which was to find reference posters and come up with our own words correlating the theme. I feel like it was a way to better identify images and explain them based on our understandings and to be able to practice ourselves to apply those effects onto our works as well.
