Lectures
In today's class, Mr. Fauzi went through the class's finalization of 'project 2b' regarding our posters and gave a few consultations to the students before submitting our works at the end of this week.

Other than that, we continued into week 9's lesson which was about 'after effects', Mr. Fauzi guided the class with lecture slides on introducing us to the after-effects.

But first, what is 'after effects'?
'After effects' is a program by adobe and based on my understanding this software assist designers in photography to create much more appealing pieces with movement. It can also be used in films, TV, and web video creations!

(Week 9, Lecture notes/slides on Intro to 'After Effects')

Tutorial

During the tutorial, on the other hand, Mr. Fauzi did a live demonstration on walking through what adobe's after-effects had to offer and a few tips and tricks through a video Mr. Fauzi pre-recorded on animating typography in the program, although that exercise required much advanced keyframes to it.

It was a way for Mr. Fauzi to give the class insight into what we could achieve in 'after effects'. Though a much simpler exercise was assigned by Mr. Fauzi, where he provided a composition to be edited through the software as a practice.

After Effects Exercise

The first step to this exercise was to download a composition provided by Mr. Fauzi as shown
below:

Figure 1.1.1 - Photoshop composition provided, May 24th, 2021

The next step was to import (drag and drop) the PSD file into after effects, from there the experimenting begins.

The fixated composition setting of the video was given by Mr. Fauzi which is 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height) with a video duration of 15 seconds long.

I was still very new to the newly introduced program by Mr. Fauzi therefore, explaining what I did maybe a little complicated. Though Mr. Fauzi did direct us in a less advanced way of still animating our compositions.
Creating keyframe animation to the layers using Position (P), Scale (S) & Masking path for each of the layers of elements.

Final Outcome:

I did what I could from the demonstration that Mr. Fauzi did during class and did further explorations in 'transitions' and 'puppeteer' with the puppet tool but I made sure not to stray away from the assigned directions from the exercise. In all honesty, it was quite fun to be able to animate the different elements and make changes to them.

Reflection

Being able to build up the exercises of composition and animating it, in the end, is a very fascinating and good way of learning from the basics. What I was able to reflect on this exercise is the amount of patience having to obtain since 'after effects' is also a very new program I'm not used to, but it was interesting to be able to learn animating in a much more advanced environment it only means that I'm much more closer to creating designs and pieces beyond even my expectations with of course the right guidance and much more times of practice.
