Reflection

Experience

This experience of enrolling in digital photography and imaging course was quite an intriguing turn in expanding my knowledge in photography and the other aspects of merging photography editing into traditional photography. I favored taking photographs when I was younger and I didn't realize there was a lot more to learn than just capturing an image at an interesting angle. In fact, this experience that was guided by Mr. Fauzi set me in a position that was at times confusing, difficult but never unachievable. There were many editing criteria to learn when we carried out our exercises that were assigned and to have to be applied to our projects. Other than that, I want to say that it was stressful but it also wasn't, only the parts where meeting feedbacks in order for our pieces to achieve its satisfaction for ourselves was an uplifting take in holding our creations close. It was truly a new and unexplainable experience for photography for me.

Observation

Photography and editing images in the software provided, being observant was an important part of making sure that our designs are appealing to look at and won't seem as if it's too much or too little. I realized that I had to be stern with what kind of element goes where (especially when learning about composition) because I'm not going to lie, many of the elements that I found and was given just instantly made me want to implement all of them 'cause of how pretty they are or would be, but having its simplicity is also important. I observed how that was very heavy when carrying out my exercises and projects.

Findings

Through these 14 weeks of learning with Mr. Fauzi, my findings on this course were how much it felt like designing for a customer or a client. There were many pieces of advice and tips given by Mr. Fauzi about how one day we students will set out into the world to introduce our designs to many people out there and in a way to help kickstart what we want to do and work with or work for or work out with the kinds of the art medium that we hold, especially photography and editing images and having that knowledge on the principles on designs and how to make good ones for people that we hope to satisfy. It definitely gives a point of view of integrating my art with other people, because the way I saw it before my photographs or designs only matters if I understood (which I'm still quite biased about it) but it opens my mind to share it personally with others too.
