Tasks for week 1 - week 2 (April 5th, 2022):
  • get a flipbook [week 1]
  • draw metamorphosis on the flipbook with a chosen object (chosen by Mr. Hafiz) [week 2]
Tasks for week 3:
  • Take pictures of flipbook frames and turn them into a form of a video
  • to later reanimate in digital form
  • Familiarise with the functions of adobe animate
  • work on a small exercise of straight-ahead/pose to pose animation with a random object(preferably a ball)
Week 1- week 2:

In this week's class, we diversified into a small exercise regarding our flipbook that we got from the previous week. The use of it was that the class was given an object to draw (I got a necktie) on our first page of the flipbook to later turn and transition into the next (that my classmates got; for instance, my next object to turn into from a tie is a bottle of nail polish).

Once everyone had their pairs to work into transforming their items, it'll all make sense.

A prime example of our progress from the flipbooks can be seen below in a video provided by Mr. Hafiz:

Begining this exercise, in my opinion, took quite the time to determine and understand how it would work out as a flipbook animation, especially applying the whole theme of metamorphosis as our tasks of drawing the frames into each page of the flipbook.

It was a slow start but as I started drawing and just went with the flow of morphing a nail polish into a neck time, I managed to get it down after mid-day.

-with the flipbook frames prepared, the next lesson will fall into the third week, where Mr. Hafiz will demonstrate the functions of adobe animate to further our practice in animations.

Week 3:

Regarding the flipbook exercise that was held out from our second week into our third, it was time to animate it digitally and apply our insights from a straight-ahead method of animation into a pose to pose with the frames/drawings we had in our flipbook.

The first step was to scan my drawings turning them into a video form, a better visual of the flipbook animation and as reference for when digitizing the frames through adobe animate.

I converted each frame into both a gif and video format, as seen below:

Flipbook animation (nail polish --> necktie) - gif format

Flipbook animation (nail polish --> necktie) - video format

Since the first project (limited animation) stitches in with the second project (metamorphosis), the difference between the two is the first project starts off with a simple frame-by-frame traditional way of animation these objects metamorphose into another object as seen in the gif and video above.

The second project will continue into converting a traditional animation into a digitized one with the metamorphosis of objects.
